87-Year-Old Cyclist Hit In Brooklyn Street, Cops Say
An elderly cyclist is in critical condition after a crash with a large SUV on Ocean Parkway Wednesday, police said.
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — An 87-year-old cyclist was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a crash with a large SUV on a Brooklyn Street, officials said.
The elderly cyclist was biking against the light on Ocean Parkway and Avenue P about 10:15 a.m. when he collided with a Chrysler Suburban, said police and FDNY.
Hatzalah — a volunteer emergency medical service organization — rushed the 87-year-old to Maimonides Hospital and the 36-year-old Chyrsler driver stayed at the crash, officials said.

The 87-year-old was hurt in a crash during a year that has seen cyclist deaths spike in New York City.
According to Patch's count, 26 city cyclists have been killed in 2019 and 17 of those crashes occurred in Brooklyn.
