WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — A beloved local animal shelter needs $15,000 to continue providing critical care to abandoned Prospect Park pups, stranded tree kittens, a ghost dog, and other Brooklyn animals it provides with a home.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for emergency services at the no-kill shelter at 153 East 3rd St. in Windsor Terrace, its owner said in a video plea.

"We see animals that have been hit by cars, that have been abused, that have been neglected," said Casey, owner of the Brooklyn nonprofit. "These guys need medical care."

Casey estimates it costs tens of thousands of dollars to provide medical care for the animals he saves from Brooklyn's streets, treats, and finds new homes for through adoption or release into suitable habitats.

The campaign, which will run until May 14, had raised $1,704 of its $15,000 goal as of April 26.

In the nine years since SCAR has been operating in Brooklyn, it has cared for dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, snakes, iguanas, fish and other rare animals, according to the shelter website.

"We are one of very few rescues who take in the most difficult medical cases," the nonprofit's profile reads. "We do it because no one else will."

The Imagine If ... campaign details a recent rescue which involved Casey braving the Prospect Park Expressway to capture an injured swan.

"Sean has risked his life while rescuing an animal," the campaign reads.

"Sean Casey is a HERO! Not an opinion, but a fact. If you ever met this humble man, you would be shocked."
