SEE: Red Panda Cubs Make Prospect Park Zoo Debut

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — There's a new cub in town.

Town as in the Prospect Park Zoo's red panda enclosure, that is.

The Brooklyn backyard animal sanctuary announced Thursday that its two tiniest new animals — a pair of adorable twin red pandas — are finally old enough to venture outside in sight of zoo visitors.

The pandas, born over the summer, were bred with the help of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan, which helps animals who are in danger of extinction. They are Styan red pandas, a subspecies from the eastern portion of the Himalayan range in China and northern Myanmar, the zoo said.

The two still-unamed cubs have until now been kept in their indoor den with their mother, Willow. They will reach adulthood around 18 months.

And, rightfully so, they have already brought some panda-monium (sorry) online among New Yorkers excited to see them explore the outdoors:
