The Early Word: Brooklyn Bike Patrol Needs Volunteers
What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. Got some books to spare? Bring them to Central Library on Saturday, Oct. 6 for the Great American Book Drive. The books will be sold all over the world, and Brooklyn Public Library will get a cut of the profits. More info available here. Â
2. Brooklyn Bike Patrol is looking for volunteers! Candidates must have a clean background, love biking and be willing to help out at least one day each week. Anyone interested should call (718) 744-7592 between 6 and 7:30 p.m.Â
3. The deadline for Columbus Day Mini-Camp at the Kings Bay Y at Windsor Terrace is on Wednesday. Kids 12 1/2 and up are also eligible to volunteer. Contact Nadira at (718) 407-6377 for more information.Â
