The Early Word: Get Discounted Classes at Jaya Yoga

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. The annual Rock 'n' Roll 10K race around Prospect Park means Park Drive will be uncomfortably crowded Saturday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Prepare for crowds, or, hell, just avoid the place altogether between those hours. (Unless of course you're running the race—you can still sign up here!)

2. Local food blog "Nona Brooklyn" has a Q&A with Brooklyn Commune co-owner and head chef Chris Scott. Take a look at the interview—or just gaze upon the mouth-watering Cuban sandwich photos—here.  (And check out our "Meet the Owner" feature with the restaurant's other owner, Eugenie Woo, here.)

3. Were you hoping to go outdoor ice skating in Brooklyn this year? Too bad. The Brooklyn Paper reports that the neither Prospect Park nor McCarren Park pool succeeded in getting their planned rinks completed in time for this winter, so it looks like we'll have to either travel to Manhattan for our outdoor-skating fix, or settle for sliding around on slick patches of sidewalk instead.

4. Jaya Yoga is offering 28 days of unlimited classes at either its Windsor Terrace or Park Slope locations for $108. The offer is available until Oct. 15., so jump on it soon.

5. Alternate side parking rules are back in effect today.
