Windsor Terrace Cook Could Win $10K On 'Top Chef' Thursday

Chris Scott is one of two "Top Chef" contestants vying to become a fan favorite, a distinction that comes with a $10,000 prize.

WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — A Windsor Terrace restaurateur could win $10,000 for the neighborhood if "Top Chef" viewers vote him a fan favorite by Thursday.

Chef Chris Scott of Butterfunk Kitchen and Brooklyn Commune — both on the corner of Greenwood and Prospect avenues — is one of two finalists in Bravo’s "Top Chef Fan Favorite" competition who could win the cash prize, which Scott has promised to invest in his hometown.

“Back home, my wife and I, we do a lot with kids and the community,” Scott said in a promotional video for Bravo.

“This money will go towards food education, some kids cooking classes and helping make our neighborhood a bit more beautiful.”

Scott and his wife Eugenie Woo opened Butterfunk Kitchen — a soul food restaurant and “juke joint” — in February 2016. Since then the restaurant has been named one of the borough’s best by Brooklyn Magazine and was the subject of a New York Times photo essay in March, 2017.

The restaurant is known for its numerous homages to the chefs' families, the New York Times reported.

The walls are covered with pictures of Woo's relatives, including her great-grandparents in South Korea, and every table is served Scott's house-made blend of Scotch bonnets, poblanos and cayenne to honor his mother, who used to carry hot sauce in her purse.

Scott's reputation reaches beyond the soul food eatery and all-day cafe: the Brooklyn chef has cooked for President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and South African President Nelson Mandela, according to his bio.

Scott joined "Top Chef" for its 15th season when it first aired on Bravo on Dec. 7, 2017, but was eliminated just three episodes before the season finale, slated to air on March 8.

But Scott still has a chance for a win on Thursday, as KARMABrooklyn was first to report.

He’s been vying for the Fan Favorite title since Feb. 8, when "Top Chef" launched the competition with its 15 contestants.

And now the Windsor Terrace chef is now facing off against just one other contestant: Fatima Ali, a New York city-based chef who revealed in January that she was fighting a cancer called Ewing's sarcoma.

Viewers are allowed to support their favorite chef with up to 40 votes, which they can submit on the Bravo website, until voting ends on March 8 at 4 p.m

The winners will be announced on "Top Chef," which airs Thursday night at 9 p.m.
