Windsor Terrace Musical Theater Troupe Holding Auditions In February
Park Slope Performing Arts will host auditions for two musical theater troupes in early February.
WINDSOR TERRACE, BROOKLYN — Park Slope Performing Arts will host auditions in early February for this year's Park Slope Theatre Company, a theater troupe of youth actors that will put on a musical theater production later in the year.
This year, the organization will be putting together two companies, co-founder Rebecca Rice explained: a "senior" company for kids aged 9-14, and a "junior" company for those from 5 to 8 years old.
The junior and senior auditions will take place on Feb. 4, with juniors auditioning from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and seniors from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Rice said the junior audition will be a group activity, with the kids playing acting games and doing some singing together.
Those auditioning for the senior troupe will perform lines from a play and sing a song, Rice said. Auditions will be individual, and will last for five minutes.

About 15 or 20 kids will be chosen for each theater troupe, Rice said. The troupe will initially meet once per week on Tuesdays (juniors from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and seniors from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.). Those involved will study acting, singing, and will be involved in the behind-the-scenes aspects of putting on their troupe's respective musical production, Rice said.
There's no additional cost to participating in a troupe, but all of those involved must enroll for at least one Performing Arts class, Rice said.
Last year's troupe produced Broadway classic "Guys And Dolls," Rice said, though this year's productions are still being finalized. All troupe rehearsals will take place at 135 Windsor Place.
