No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem, officials said.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the pecan-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of pecans. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's packaging processes.
Consumers with allergies to pecans who have purchased 20 ounce Publix Bakery Holiday Cookie Platters with lot code W34326 are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Customers with questions should contact the company at 1-800-433-9100 or 724-925-2222.
