1st Day Of Spring Is Coming: How Warm Will It Feel In NC?

The Farmers' Almanac's extended spring forecast is out, giving NC residents a peek at when it will start warming up around here.

NORTH CAROLINA β€” Take heart, ye who have had it with winter up to your chattering teeth and frozen nose. Warmer days are coming β€” the spring equinox officially arrives at 5:37 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Saturday, March 20 β€” even if the Farmers’ Almanac’s extended spring forecast calls for weather that will feel more like winter in North Carolina.

The Farmers’ Almanac's extended spring forecast suggests you’ll be able to pack away thermal long johns and fleece-lined boots and trade them for rain gear in most parts of the country.

In North Carolina, spring will be chilly and showery, according to the almanac, which predicts "plenty of thunderstorms" over eastern states. By late May, soggy weather in the region will turn into "an early spell of heat," it said.
