2019 Wiener Dog Race: How To Watch, Enter Your Pooch

CHARLOTTE, NC — Do you (or someone you know) have a zippy dachshund or small dog and a desire for bragging rights? For the second year in a row, the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue is sponsoring a wiener dog race to raise money.

This year’s event will be held at Lucky Dog Bark & Brew Charlotte, located at 2220 Thrift Road, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, June 8.

Here’s what organizers are saying about the event:

This is a 21 AND OLDER ONLY event with a VALID ID! Furry children only, please! All dogs that enter our facility must be fixed (if over 6 months), friendly, and up to date on shots.

Cost is a $10 donation per race that you want to enter or 4 Races for $30.

ALL donations go directly to NMAR. The price goes up to $15 per race at the door if there are still slots available.

The event will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate all race times. Race times will be assigned to you shortly after you make your donation.

Please pre-register using this link. NMAR will assign you a race slot the day of the event so make sure you know what time your division is starting. You are welcome to come with or without a dog all day because 10 percent of all bar sales during the event will go to NMAR.

Race Times & Categories

• 2 p.m. — 3 p.m.: Senior class - 7yrs or older
• 3 p.m. — 4 p.m.: Puppies and 12lbs or less
• 4 p.m. — 6:20 p.m.: Open class
• 6:20 p.m.: Wiener Dog Winners Race. All Weiners that placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd can enter for Top Dog Overall Winner.
