3,200 New Jobs: Healthcare Company Expands To Charlotte

Healthcare administration company Centene Corporation dedicated its new East Coast campus that will house more than 3,200 new jobs.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” Healthcare administration company Centene Corporation dedicated the site of its new East Coast campus Monday.

The new corporate campus is expected to house more than 3,200 new jobs, along with an on-site daycare center, according to Mecklenburg County officials.

"Mecklenburg County is excited to welcome Centene Corporation's East Coast Headquarters to Charlotte," George Dunlap, Chairman of the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, said in a statement. "We are also equally excited to see how the addition of this Fortune 100 Company will positively impact the residents we serve as new job opportunities become available as a result of the County's investment."

The company's expansion to Charlotte marks one of the latest in the region, according to county officials.

"With Centene's commitment of 3,237 jobs and more than $1 billion in capital investment, the project is the largest in the history of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Business Investment Grant program by jobs and capital investment. At the time of announcement, it was the largest economic development project in North Carolina by job creation since the Job Development Investment Grant program began," a Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development statement said.

The company's average annual salary at the new campus is expected to be $100,089 for corporate positions, and about $63,000 for about 1,000 jobs in operations roles.
