8-Year Old Delivers Pizza To The Homeless On His Birthday

Kieng Rivens of Charlotte told his mother that feeding the homeless was his only birthday wish.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” Eight-year-old boys will often ask for things like toys, games and sportswear for their birthdays, but Kieng Rivens of Charlotte only had one request for his big day.

"I want to feed the homeless," Kieng told his mother, Antiqua Ramsey. Ramsey told WSOC-TV she had tears in her eyes when that was her son's response to asking him what he wanted for his birthday.

Kieng, his mother and other family members and friends spent much of Kieng's Saturday birthday donating 75 pizzas to the homeless residents living in the "tent city" in uptown Charlotte, according to the news station. The pizzas came from the Papa John's location on Statesville Road, which offered a discount on the large order after hearing about the young boy's planned good deed.

β€œThat made me want to do it so much more, knowing it was a 7-year-old kid, and all he wanted for his birthday was to give back to the community,” Gage Lock, manager at the Papa John’s, told WSOC-TV.

Kieng said he picked pizza to donate because it is something "everybody likes."
