Apple Unveils Plans For New $1B Campus In North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Apple is investing $1 billion in a new North Carolina campus that will create at least 3,000 new jobs, the tech giant announced Monday morning.

The new facility will be located in the Research Triangle Park in the Raleigh-Durham, and will offer tech jobs in machine learning, artificial intelligence and software engineering, according to reports.

The campus is expected to generate $1.5 billion in economic benefit annually for the state, WTVD said.

The news is part of the company's five-year plan to invest $430 billion in expansion that aims to create 20,000 new jobs across the U.S., including Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, Washington, New York, and California, the AP reported.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper responded to the news, saying "Apple's decision to build a new campus in Wake County showcases many of [the] best things about North Carolina — our world-class universities, tech-ready workforce and welcoming communities that make our state one a great place to live and work."
