A study by SmartAsset ranked the best cities for beer drinkers in America. Here are the two North Carolina cities that made the list.

The personal finance technology website SmartAsset recently released its annual Best Cities for Beer Drinkers rankings, and two North Carolina cities made the list.
Asheville ranked No. 4 on the overall list:

- Total Breweries: 25
- Breweries per 100,000 Residents: 27.0
- Average Number of Beers per Brewery: 90.0
- Bars per 100,000 Residents: 17.4
- Average Price of a Pint: $4
Wilmington ranked No. 14 on the overall list:
- Total Breweries: 15
- Breweries per 100,000 Residents: 12.2
- Average Number of Beers per Brewery: 31.7
- Bars per 100,000 Residents: 22.4
- Average Price of a Pint: $4
Cincinnati ranked as the best city for beer drinkers in the country, the researchers found, followed by St. Louis, Missouri, and Portland, Oregon.

SmartAsset looked at 350 of the largest cities in the United States across five key metrics of beer drinking, including the average number of beers per brewery and the number of bars per 100,000 residents.
Each key metric was then listed with its corresponding weight, and the cities were graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the best possible conditions for drinking beer in a city.
The personal finance site also offered tips for good financial practices while enjoying a pint, such as, βAs you run up a tab, be smart about your paycheck. When youβre excited about having a night out on the town, itβs important to understand how much of your paycheck you can afford to budget for the festivities.β

- Cincinnati, Ohio: 100.00
- St. Louis, Missouri: 97.97
- Portland, Oregon: 97.65
- Asheville, North Carolina: 97.54
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: 97.08
- Denver, Colorado: 96.69
- Bend, Oregon: 93.27
- Madison, Wisconsin: 92.59
- Missoula, Montana: 90.10
- Cleveland, Ohio: 89.06
