Charlotte Animal Control: 367 Pets Returned In June

Animal control officials released their numbers for June, and their great work is shining through.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Animal Care and Control division had a great month in June. They reported 367 pets have been adopted into new homes.

"Celebrate!" an image on the Animal Care and Control Facebook page says. They've found new homes for two birds, 183 cats, 153 dogs, one horse, six rabbits, one reptile and 21 rodents.

They don't only find new homes for animals, but help lost pets get back home. They've returned one bird, nine cats, one bull, one rabbit and 121 dogs to their owners.

Animal Care and Control also works with rescue shelters, transferring animals to these organizations focused on rehabilitating and placing animals in homes.

They've transferred 19 birds, 54 cats, 55 dogs, one horse and a rabbit to partner rescues.
