Charlotte Major League Soccer: New Team Name Revealed
The team name for Charlotte's new Major League Soccer team was announced live online Wednesday.
CHARLOTTE, NC β The long-awaited brand identity of Charlotte's new Major League Soccer team was revealed Wednesday morning live online.
The new MLS expansion team will be known as Charlotte Football Club and identified with a crest with a crown in the center β a nod to the Queen City. Immediately following the 11 a.m. announcement, merchandise branded with the new team's crest was available online.
The new sports franchise, announced in late 2019 and owned by Carolina Panther's owner David Tepper, is expected to launch in the Queen City in 2022.

"The wait is almost over," the franchise teased the brand reveal Tuesday, vita Twitter.
Fans will have to wait longer than initially expected before games will begin, however. The MLS soccer club was initially slated to begin playing in 2021, but that date was recently pushed back a year to 2022 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
