Charlotte Woman Pockets $1 Million Scratch-Off Lottery Win
Eleni Housiadas of Charlotte won the $1 million top lottery prize after buying a scratch-off game ticket from an area convenience store.

CHARLOTTE, NC β A Charlotte woman snagged a $1 million top lottery prize by playing the "50X the Cash" lottery game, according to North Carolina Education Lottery officials.
Eleni Housiadas bought the $10 winning scratch-off game ticket at Circle K on Sharon Road West in Charlotte and claimed the prize June 1 in Raleigh.
"Housiadas had a choice of taking the $1 million as an annuity of $50,000 a year over 20 years, or a lump sum of $600,000," NCEL said. "She chose the lump sum of $600,000 and took home $424,503 after federal and state tax withholding."
