CHARLOTTE, NC β€” After nearly six decades serving up fried chicken to Queen City hungry patrons, Price's Chicken Coop will close its doors for good this weekend, it announced Thursday.

There were several reasons leading up to the decision to close the restaurant, located int he shadow of the Uptown skyline at 1614 Camden Road in Charlotte, according to the restaurant.

"It is with heavy hearts that The Chicken Coop has decided to close our doors after 59 years of business due to the Labor shortage, rising food costs, food quality and another coin shortage," it said in a Facebook post.

"We thank everybody for their support and business over the years!" it said.

The social media announcement prompted more than a thousand responses.

"I hate to see this gastronomic icon close," wrote one person. "Wish we had a little more notice to pay homage and get a last fix of everything. Thank you for 59 delicious years!"

"I am surely going to miss y'all" The smell, the food and most of all the ice tea!" wrote another.

The restaurant's final day of business will be Saturday, June 19.
