"Their preliminary investigation indicates the Suzuki was traveling at a high rate of speed, and as Mr. Thompson was approaching Delta Crossing Lane, the Kia Forte pulled out in front of him. The Suzuki and Mr. Thompson struck the Kia Forte and became separated," CMPD said.

"Speed is a contributing factor for the motorcycle," CMPD said.

Following a screening for impairment, Paw was "found to have consumed an impairing substance," the police report added.

Paw was arrested and charged with DWI; window tint violation; no operator’s license; possession of marijuana over a half ounce and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
