Falling Ice Shuts Down Section Of Street In Uptown: CMPD

A section of Stonewall Street has shut down in Uptown Charlotte due to ice falling from buildings, according to police.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” Ice falling off a building in uptown Charlotte has led to a partial street closure, according to police. One block of Stonewall Street, between Tryon Street and Church Street closed midday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police urge drivers to find an alternate route.

The winter storm that hammered North Carolina over the weekend dropped β€œstaggering amount” of snow and rain, with some areas receiving a year’s worth of snow in one day, Gov. Roy Cooper said Monday morning. β€œConditions remain treacherous,” Cooper said, warning that colder temperatures Monday evening could β€œturn roads into ice rinks.”
