Flood Watch In Effect For Charlotte Metro Through Thursday
A flood watch is in effect for Mecklenburg County through Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
CHARLOTTE, NC β As Tropical Storm Eta continued its advance along the Florida coast Wednesday, a flood watch is in effect for Mecklenburg County through Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy downpours are expected throughout Wednesday night, NWS said.
The flood watch, which went into effect Wednesday evening, includes Mecklenburg County, the greater Charlotte metro region, as well as northeast Georgia and the upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina. A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based upon weather forecasts, NWS said.

"Deep subtropical moisture continues to filter into the area. A cold front pushing across the area tonight will interact with this moisture to produce multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, resulting in torrential downpours, which will pose a risk of flooding," NWS said.
By Friday, conditions will clear up, with plenty of sunshine. Sunny skies and mild temperatures are expected through the weekend.
