Former Charlotte Student Nominated For A Tony Award

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Former Northwest School of the Arts student Eva Noblezada has been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Kim in “Miss Saigon.” The 21-year-old Charlotte native is joined in the category by actresses Denee Benton, Christine Ebersole, Patti Lupone and Bette Midler.

“I’m really honored to be up against these incredible women,” Noblezada told the Charlotte Observer in an email.

Noblezada’s theater career began when she was given a role in London’s West End revival of “Miss Saigon” in 2014, when she was a senior at the arts magnet school. Prior to opening the revival of the show on Broadway this past year, which is also been nominated for Best Revival of a Musical, Noblezada she also starred in "Les Miserables" in London, the newspaper said.

The Tony Awards will be hosted by Kevin Spacey June 11.
