Former Charlotte Student Nominated For A Tony Award

Former Northwest student Eva Noblezada is up for a 2017 Tony for Best Actress for her role in Miss Saigon.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Former Northwest School of the Arts student Eva Noblezada has been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Kim in β€œMiss Saigon.” The 21-year-old Charlotte native is joined in the category by actresses Denee Benton, Christine Ebersole, Patti Lupone and Bette Midler.

β€œI’m really honored to be up against these incredible women,” Noblezada told the Charlotte Observer in an email.

Noblezada’s theater career began when she was given a role in London’s West End revival of β€œMiss Saigon” in 2014, when she was a senior at the arts magnet school. Prior to opening the revival of the show on Broadway this past year, which is also been nominated for Best Revival of a Musical, Noblezada she also starred in "Les Miserables" in London, the newspaper said.
