Freeze Warning Issued For Charlotte Metro: Forecast

CHARLOTTE, NC — It may officially be spring, but winter isn't officially done with us yet. The greater Charlotte metro region is under a freeze warning Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.

How cold could it get? According to NWS, overnight temperatures will dip into the 20s.

"Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing," NWS said. "To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing."

The freeze warning is issued for Mecklenburg, Union, Lincoln, Greater Rutherford, Gaston, Eastern Polk, Cleveland and Cabarrus counties.
