Harrisburg High Schoolers To Perform In China: Report

HARRISBURG, NC — A high school band from the Charlotte area will travel to China this week to perform in a concert tour, according to a media report. The Hickory Ridge High School Wind Ensemble will take 44 musicians to five cities in China, WSOC-TV Channel 9 reported.

The band is one of two chosen to perform in China this year by the U.S.-China Cultural and Educational Foundation, according to Channel 9.

Chris White, the director of the Hickory Ridge ensemble, said the band will perform some songs with a North Carolina connection, while others will reflect China's culture. The band also will perform music from the Olympics, since Beijing, China's capital, will host the next Winter Olympics in 2022.
