Homicide Probe Launched Into Fatal East Charlotte Shooting
The male victim was found shot several times in an east Charlotte neighborhood near Briarwood Park, according to Charlotte police.
CHARLOTTE, NC β A homicide investigation was launched in east Charlotte Tuesday morning after a 26-year-old man was found fatally shot before dawn, according to police.
A man who had been shot multiple times was found unconscious in the 5300 block of Waterwood Lane around 2:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
The victim was later identified as Dontae Cornelius Kennedy.

CMPD said the homicide investigation into Kennedy's death is active and ongoing, and said that anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak to a homicide detective. Tips may also be left anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
