Hummingbird Festival This Weekend Marks Migratory Send-Off
Hummingbirds are the smallest birds in the world. If you've ever wanted to see one up close, this weekend is your chance.
CHARLOTTE, NC β Have you ever wanted to see a hummingbird up close? If so, there will be opportunity to do just that this weekend in Charlotte at the annual Hummingbird Festival.
The Hummingbird Festival, which is sponsored by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, will be held at Reedy Creek Nature Center, which is located at 2900 Rocky River Road.

βBe amazed by Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds who are ready to make a 500+ mile journey back to Central America for the winter. This will be a send-off celebration for all migratory birds who spend the summer days in Charlotte. Guest speakers, nature walks, food trucks, games and community organizations will be sharing fun activities to better understand our role in the natural world. Ornithologist Susan Campbell will be sharing her experiences documenting Hummingbirds and their long round trips across America.β
The event runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., however organizers recommend participants arrive early as the best time to see hummingbirds is between 9 a.m. β 11:30 a.m.
