Labor Day 2018: NC Gas Prices Drop Before Holiday Weekend
Gas prices in North Carolina and the U.S. have dropped this past week, but are still nearly 50 cents higher than a year ago.

CHARLOTTE, NC β Gas prices across North Carolina continue to slowly drop heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, however gas continues to average about 48 cents more per gallon nationally than this time last year, according to AAA.
The auto club reports that the average gas price in North Carolina was $2.65 on aug. 28, down just one cent from last week and two cents from last month. The current average price in the Tar Heel State, however, is 43 cents more per gallon than this time last year.
This yearβs Labor Day gas prices mark their highest point in four years, AAA said.

βWith Labor Day approaching, motorists could see a small swing towards higher gas prices, but any jump should not last past the holiday weekend,β said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

The average price for a gallon of regular in the Charlotte metro region is $2.62. In North Carolina, the lowest average prices are in Fayetteville ($2.59) and the highest in Asheville ($2.77).
