North Carolina’s Best Hotels: U.S. News & World Report
A new set of rankings from U.S. News & World Report reveal the best hotels in the U.S., including these hotels in North Carolina.

The Four Seasons hotels stand out among other chains in the U.S., placing at the very top of a new set of rankings of the best hotels in the country. The 2019 rankings, released by U.S. News & World Report, look at the top luxury hotels and resorts in the country and in every state.
U.S. News awards the top 10 percent of ranked hotels, or hotels that fall at or above the 90th percentile, with a gold badge, the publication explains in its methodology. The hotels that rank at or above the 70th percentile are awarded a silver badge.
In North Carolina, seven hotels received a gold badge while 11 hotels were awarded a silver badge.

Below are the top ranked luxury hotels in North Carolina:
- The Umstead Hotel and Spa, Raleigh
- The Fearrington House Inn, Pittsboro
- Old Edwards Inn and Spa, Highlands
- The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte
- Inn on Biltmore Estate, Asheville
- Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville
- The Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville
California and New York had the most gold badge winners among the states. While New York City, Las Vegas and Los Angeles had the most gold badge winners among the cities.

The top five hotels in the U.S. are:
- Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (No. 1)
- The Peninsula Chicago (No. 2)
- Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, Surfside, Florida (No. 3)
- Four Seasons Resort Lanai (No. 4)
- Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (No. 5)
U.S. News comes up with a score to rank hotels using awards and recognitions a hotel has received, the hotel class (5-star, 4-star) and guest ratings from TripAdvisor. (You can read the full methodology here)
