She credits Communities In Schools for the many opportunities she has had to develop and grow. "CIS put me in a position where I could make the choice to succeed."
"CIS has been a guiding resource in my high school education," said Efuru. It helped her develop skills in organization, facilitation and leadership, participating in college field trips and as a student ambassador. In her junior year at Harding, she was selected for "Difference Makers," an intensive two-year, intergenerational leadership program, which encourages students to lead on equal footing with adults.

Efuru is headed to Madrid, Spain, this fall to attend IE University, an international school with students from more than 150 countries. She plans to study communications and digital design, which she believes are the building blocks to human interaction and will teach her how to "appeal, persuade, influence and actively listen to people."
"My goals and dreams are simple," Efuru said. "My goal is to shift the global focus to 'human evolution through love.' My dream is that people will recognize their own greatness and start listening to understand others. We want to pin the symptoms on the root cause. The root cause is self-unawareness."
