Storm To Bring First Significant Snow To Parts Of North Carolina
Areas of the state are expected to see up to 2 inches of snow. Here's what forecasters say to expect in the Charlotte metro region.
CHARLOTTE, NC β Western North Carolina could see up to 2 inches of snow by Tuesday in what is the first significant snow to fall in the state this season, according to forecasters. Elsewhere in the state, rain and high winds are expected, according to the National Weather Service.
"Gusts up to 35 to 50 mph are possible today, especially in and near heavy showers and storms," according to NWS Raleigh, which said a wind advisory was in effect from the central region of the state until 2 p.m.

Monday morning, a winter storm warning was in effect for western North Carolina, where the coldest air of the season was expected to settle in for the early part of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

"Mountain snow is expected to develop during the morning hours as deep cold air from the northwest enters the region," the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg said Monday.

In the Charlotte metro region, rainy conditions are expected to clear up throughout the day Monday, while temperatures fall. Tuesday, the high will be around 44 degrees, with overnight lows in the 20s.
