Hazardous Weather Expected For Much Of Charlotte Metro: NWS

Hazardous weather could continue in the piedmont of NC Monday evening with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” The piedmont of North Carolina could see more hazardous weather Monday evening, including scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said.

Following a day of tumultuous weather that included tornado watches and a brief tornado warning for Uptown Charlotte, more rain was on the way, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin issued for the Charlotte metro.

"Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to impact the region through the evening hours," NWS said. "Occasional cloud to ground lightning strikes will be the primary threat."

Severe storms would remain a threat throughout much of the state into Wednesday, NWS said.

"A cold front approaching from the west will be the trigger for another round of strong to severe thunderstorms during mainly the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday," NWS said. "The storms will increase the threat for isolated flash flooding across areas that see multiple rounds of rainfall. The cold front could also trigger isolated severe thunderstorms east of the mountains again on Wednesday as it crosses the region."
