TRAFFIC ALERT: Significant Delays After I-77 Crash
Charlotte police urged drivers to find an alternate route after northbound lanes were shut down for a crash investigation.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Traffic along Interstate 77 came to a halt before noon Wednesday after a crash involving a dump truck closed down northbound lanes at Interstate 85, according to Charlotte police.
“Overturned tractor trailer with multiple vehicle accidents including a dump truck,” Charlotte Fire Department said. “Traffic is affected in north and southbound lanes in the area,” causing “significant delays.”
Motorists are urged to find alternate routes, that could include Brookshire Boulevard to I-85 or Statesville Avenue, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

The lane shut down is expected to last several hours while North Carolina Highway Patrol investigates the accident, CMPD said.
