The National Weather Service predicts Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 will grow to Tropical Storm Claudette and reach North Carolina Sunday.

CHARLOTTE, NC β Father's Day could be soggy in the Charlotte metro if meteorologists are on point.
Remnants of a tropical storm forming off the coast of Louisiana will likely cross over North Georgia and the Upstate of South Carolina into western North Carolina and the Charlotte metro by Sunday, the National Weather Service said on Friday.
Currently, the weather system tracking its way toward North Carolina as Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 but is anticipated to reach Tropical Storm status β sustained wind speeds of over 35 mph β before it makes landfall in Louisiana early Saturday morning, NOAA Meteorologist Kyle Thiem told Patch.

"It is anticipated to become a tropical storm," Thiem said. "If it does, it would be named Tropical Storm Claudette."

While the weather system is expected to slow down by the time North Carolinians begin feeling its impact early Sunday, you can expect windy conditions and heavy rain.

"Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday across potions of southern NC," North Carolina Emergency Management said Friday. "A brief tornado or two will remain the primary concern as some form of a tropical cyclone is expected to continue moving northeastward."
The system isn't expected to stick around long, according to forecasters. The storm is expected to move out of North Carolina Monday, however a cold front is expected in its wake, which will likely keep the possibility of rain around for a few more days, NCEM said.
