Trump’s Charlotte Visit Expected To Snarl Traffic: Details
Trump is coming to Charlotte Friday and police are warning motorists to expect traffic delays. Here are the areas they say you should avoid.

CHARLOTTE, NC — President Trump is coming to Charlotte today, which means motorists can expect major traffic delays and backups on main arteries throughout the Charlotte region, police warned Friday morning.
Trump is traveling to the Queen City for a political fundraiser at the Carmel Country Club. The event, which is boasting tickets as much as $25,000 each, is to raise money for GOP candidates Mark Harris and Rep. Ted Budd, the Charlotte Observer reported. Trump will also be visiting Central Piedmont Community College, where he will sign an executive order aimed at simplifying retirement plans for small businesses.
Delays related to Trump’s itinerary will begin midday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

“Some roads, particularly those near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Carmel Country Club, will be closed completely for short periods between noon and 6 p.m.,” CMPD said.

Here’s what drivers can expect, according to CMPD:
- Significant delays can be expected on Billy Graham Parkway, Interstate 77, and in South Charlotte in the Johnston Road and Carmel Road areas.
- Drivers headed to or from the airport are asked to avoid Billy Graham Parkway.
- It is recommended that drivers access the airport via Little Rock Road, Interstate 85 or northbound Interstate 485 to Wilkinson Blvd.
