What's Open, Closed For Veterans Day 2020 In Charlotte

Veterans Day falls on Wednesday. Here are the schedule changes to know in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” Veterans Day, a federal holiday to honor those who have served in the military, will mean some schedule changes in Charlotte and throughout Mecklenburg County.

City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed.

There is another way to celebrate veterans. Nov. 11 marks the opening of the National Museum of the Army. The museum, focused on the 244-year history of the U.S. Army, is livestreaming a ceremony to mark the occasion. For more information, visit www.thenmusa.org.

Below are the schedule changes to know for the holiday in Charlotte:

  • City of Charlotte β€” Closed
  • Mecklenburg County government offices β€” Closed
  • Banks β€” Closed
  • US Post Office β€” Closed
  • Schools β€” Closed
  • Department of Social Services β€” Closed. The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).
  • Tax Officeβ€” Closed
  • Elections Office β€” Closed
  • Register of Deeds Office β€” Closed
  • Land Use and Environmental Services Agencyβ€” Closed
  • Health Department β€” Closed
  • Main Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and all library branches β€” Closed
  • Park and Recreation administrative offices β€” Closed
  • Charlotte Area Transit System β€” On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020 the Charlotte Area Transit System will operate buses, trains and the CityLYNX Connector according to their current modified schedule. In observance of Veterans Day, the CATS Pass Sales and Information Office, and the CATS Call Center will be closed.
