"The Cornelius Fire Department in conjunction with Sherrills Ford Fire Department, and Charlotte Fire Department operated seamlessly. A Tow Fish sonar as well as underwater [remotely operated vehicles] were used to complete the recovery. This could not have been done without the assistance of NC Wildlife, Cornelius Police, and Iredell County Sheriff," CFD said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We were glad we could offer some closure to them," CFD said. "As always we strongly encourage anyone going out on the lake to always wear a PFD."

Lakes have kept us all busy lately. Best advice is that you’re well versed in the handling of your vessel. Don’t overload your boat with equally inexperienced folks, avoid the alcohol & have a life vest (PFD) when entering the water: swimming, floating, tubing etc. #HelpUsHelpYou pic.twitter.com/hikwAZpEsQThe large-scale search operation was not the only event for crews over the weekend. Saturday morning, units from Cornelius and Huntersville also responded to Kings Point Marina after a boat caught on fire at the fuel dock.
