Cornelius Weather: Freeze Warning Issued, Bitter Cold Looms

CORNELIUS, NC — Time to bundle up. Cornelius is in for a freeze this weekend with temperatures possibly dropping into the 20s, forecasters say.

The mercury will hit a frigid low of about 30 degrees early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service has issued a freeze warning for the greater Charlotte metro region that will be in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Saturday. The bitter cold could damage outdoor plumbing and kill "sensitive vegetation," the weather service says, so bring your plants inside.

The weekend will bring some warmer weather, with a high near 51 degrees on Saturday and a high near 61 on Sunday, according to the forecast. Sunshine is expected both days.
