Early Morning Fire At Cornelius Marina Destroys Multiple Boats
Firefighters from Cornelius and Huntersville responded to the early morning blaze at Kings Point Marina.
CORNELIUS, NC — Multiple boats were destroyed in a predawn fire at a Lake Norman marina Friday morning.
Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue responded to Kings Point Marina, located at 17939 Kings Point Drive in Cornelius, around 3 a.m., where they found multiple boats on fire.
"Members were able to cut nearby boats loose and got water on the fire quickly," the fire department said. "This led to the fire being contained and not devastating the marina. A marina fire is a scenario that we are always planning for and discussing."

Firefighters from Huntersville Fire's Station 2 also responded to the blaze to assist Cornelius firefighters.
"Quick thinking and tactics from Cornelius FD minimized the fire's impact," Huntersville Fire Department said. HFD said its firefighters returned to their station around 4:30 a.m.
