Early Voting Underway In Cornelius: 5 Things To Know

In-person early voting for the Nov. 3 General Election begins Thursday, Oct. 15. Here are five things you need to know.

CORNELIUS, NC — In person, early voting for the Nov. 3 General Election begins Thursday, Oct. 15 for voters in Cornelius and throughout North Carolina, and includes races for offices ranging from President and Vice President to register of deeds.

During the early voting period, absentee voters may also deliver their completed mail-in ballots to an election official at early voting sites. The absentee ballots will then be securely delivered to the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections.

What offices are on the Nov. 3 ballot?
Mecklenburg voters will cast ballots for the following races:

How long will early voting last?
Early voting begins Oct. 15 and will be available at 33 sites every day until Saturday, Oct. 31. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Where do I go to vote?
There are 33 early voting locations in Mecklenburg County for the Nov. 3 General Election. Sites are open from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

In the Lake Norman region, early voting will take place at the following locations:

  • Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., Cornelius
  • Hough High School, 12420 Bailey Road, Cornelius
  • North County Regional Library, 16500 Holly Crest Lane, Huntersville

How do I register to vote or update my voter registration?
Voters may register to vote for the 2020 General Election and vote the same day at the same location during early voting in North Carolina.

Same-day registrants must attest to their voting eligibility by completing a voter registration application, and provide proof of residency through showing one of the following: a North Carolina driver's license; a government-issued identification; a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document showing the voter's name and address; or a current college/university photo identification card with proof of campus habitation.
