Flash Flood Watch For Lake Norman: Here’s When Rain Will End
A flash flood watch is in effect for Mecklenburg County, as well as much of the piedmont of the state. Here's what you need to know.
CORNELIUS, NC — A flash flood watch is in effect for Mecklenburg County, as well as most of the piedmont of North Carolina, as the region braces for more rain Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop around the region today, especially this afternoon and early this evening,” NWS said in a hazardous weather bulletin Monday morning. “Very heavy downpours and occasional lighting strikes will be the main threat with any thunderstorms. The strongest thunderstorms will also produce briefly gusty winds.”
The flash flood watch is in effect through the evening of June 10 and means conditions may develop to lead to flash flooding. Residents should monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued, NWS said.
