Home Depot Robber Caught On Camera: Cornelius Police

Three men are wanted for an attempted heist on Dec. 16 at the local hardware store, say Cornelius police.

CORNELIUS, N.C. — The Cornelius Police Department released surveillance photos Thursday of a man who was scared away from robbing a local Home Depot store earlier this month, and it's asking the public for help in identifying the individual and a getaway car captured on camera. Police officers responded at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, to the report of an armed robbery at the store, at 17111 Statesville Road.

Several witnesses told the officers that the robber, identified as a black man, acted as if he had a handgun and told a cashier to open a cash register, the Cornelius police said.

"The cashier loudly told the suspect to take whatever he wanted," and another cashier called 911, scaring off the would-be robber, the police said. The individual then fled to the Home Depot's parking lot, where two other black males were waiting.
