Hough High’s Class of 2019 Scholarship Haul Totals $15 Million
Graduating students at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools brought in $147.7 million in scholarships. Here's the breakdown.
CORNELIUS, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ Class of 2019 has earned $147.7 million in college scholarships, in what the school district superintendent called “an amazing amount of scholarship money.” In Cornelius, graduating seniors at William Amos Hough High won more than $15 million for scholarships, representing an increase of more than 15 percent over the year before and the second highest scholarship haul in the school district.
All total, 3,424 scholarships were awarded to CMS’ Class of 2019 students, which was down nearly $4 million from the previous year, according to CMS data. Of the 2019 amount, nearly $18 million were athletic scholarships while about $130 million were for academics.
"The Class of 2019 has been offered an amazing amount of scholarship money,” CMS Superintendent Dr. Clayton M. Wilcox said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of our graduating seniors, who will represent CMS well at their chosen colleges and universities."

- Providence High — $10.3 million in scholarships for 213 students
