May is National Bike Month!

There's a lot to love about Cornelius, including its bikeability. That's why we're so excited to celebrate National Bike Month!

• Always wear a helmet. It's the law for riders 16 and under, but a good rule of thumb for cyclists of all ages.
• Walk your bike at crosswalks. Pedestrians have the right-of-way on sidewalks, crosswalks, and greenways.
• Use bike lanes when available, and be extra cautious when they're next to on-street parking.
• Use hand signals. Communication is key.
• Don't ride distracted, your phone can wait.
• Be visible. Bright colors and reflective clothing can make a big difference. Cyclists must also have working headlights and taillights when riding at night.
