School Board Prioritizes Cornelius School Construction

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education added Cornelius to an existing list of towns with prioritized school capital projects.

CORNELIUS, NC — Cornelius is now prioritized for future school construction, according to school officials.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education voted Oct. 22 to add Cornelius to the list of municipalities with prioritization for capital project spending created by the Municipal Concerns Act, which was put in place last year. Other municipalities on that list include Charlotte, Davidson and Pineville

Cornelius was added to the list after the town clarified to the school board that it did not intend to operate a municipal charter school, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
