Storms Headed To Cornelius: Here’s When The Rain Will End

CORNELIUS, NC — Cornelius will have a soggy start to the weekend Friday as heavy rain moves into the region, the National Weather Service warned Friday morning.

“Locally heavy rainfall is possible today into tonight. Additional rainfall up to an inch is expected, and isolated, minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas will be possible,” NWS said in a hazardous weather bulletin.

The cold front moving into the piedmont of the state could also spur gusty winds, NWS warned.

Rain is expected to stay in the forecast until Sunday, when sunny, clear skies emerge along with a high in the low 50s.

Rain likely, mainly before 7am, then a chance of showers after 8am. Patchy fog between 11am and noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West northwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
