Street Closure Planned In Downtown Cornelius Thursday
Traffic disruptions are expected near the Public Library in downtown Cornelius Thursday as a crew works to remove a dead tree.

CORNELIUS, NC — Drivers should anticipate possible traffic disruptions in downtown Cornelius Thursday, as a crew removes a large dead tree across the street from the Public Library, according to the town.
The Dec. 20 tree removal will require a crane and will bring road closures on Washam Street from Catawba Avenue to south of the library entrance, the town said.
Traffic will be reduced down to one lane and intermittently both lanes will be closed to traffic during the course of the project, which will run from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m.The library will accessible using Pine Street to Washam Street, the town said.

“Though Catawba will not be impassable, the detour along Church Street, Pine Street, and Beard Street may help travelers to move through the area faster,” said a town notice. “Washam Potts will also be an option to move through Cornelius quicker. Please be patient with officers and the crew as they work to safely remove this tree and get cars through the area.”
