Strong Thunderstorms With Possible Hail Headed To Cornelius
Thunderstorms bringing possible hail and flooding are heading our way. Here's what forecasters say Cornelius can expect.
CORNELIUS, NC -- Enjoy the sunshine while you can Cornelius because storms will be moving into the area as soon as this evening. The Lake Norman region will have a soggy weekend filled with thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds, hail, and even localized flooding, according to forecasters
Tuesday night, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the piedmont of North Carolina. “The main threats will gusty winds, heavy downpours, and cloud-to-ground lightning,” the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather bulletin Tuesday.
More hazardous weather is expected through Monday, NWS said.

“Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some storms may produce large hail and damaging wind,” NWS said. “An active pattern will set up across the region Friday through the weekend. With plenty of shower and thunderstorm coverage each day, some areas may receive periods of heavy rain that could lead to an elevated threat for localized flash flooding.”
The storms will bring in slightly cooler temperatures. Daily highs through the weekend are not expected to be higher than 85.
