Vehicle Break-In, 5 Larcenies Reported In Cornelius: CPD

Four people were arrested and charged with driving while impaired this week in Cornelius, police said.

CORNELIUS, NC — Police in Cornelius made nine arrests this week, including four drivers who were charged with driving while impaired.

Police also received a dozen crime reports, including six cases of fraud, five cases of larceny and one vehicle break-in.

CPD also issued more than three dozen citations for charges including speeding, failure to turn on headlights and unsafe passing.

Arrests made by Cornelius Police Department between March 17 - March 23, 2021:

  • Michael Anthony Formato, 41, was arrested March 17 on West Catawba Avenue at Copely Drive, charged with driving while impaired
  • Evan Henry Gillis, 24, was arrested March 18 on GL Chapel Way, charged with driving while impaired, felony possession on marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia
  • Kamecia Shawneray Tutt, 37, was arrested March 18 on Chartwell Center Drive, charged with misdemeanor first degree trespassing enter/remain
  • Michael Gage Norton, 24, was arrested March 19 on Kings Point Drive at West Catawba Avenue, charged with driving while impaired.
  • Kenneth Mace Higgins, 51, was arrested March 19 on Harborside Drive at West Catawba Avenue, charged with driving while impaired
  • Robert Fletcher Webster, 31, was arrested March 20 on Tryon Street, charged with driving while impaired
  • Lyle Jackson Bennett, 34, was arrested March 20 on Camberly Road, charged with misdemeanor assault on a female
  • Kari Lorraine Robinson, 34, was arrested March 20 on Camberly Road, charged with misdemeanor simple assault
  • Loreley Pena-Banchik, 54, was arrested March 23 on Knox Run Road, charged with misdemeanor breaking or entering.
