Tonight is the looming deadline where the government might actually 'shutdown', affecting military, government employees, and families everywhere.
Stepping up to ease the concerns of many military not getting a direct deposit paycheck on October 15, if the shutdown occurs, many banks have offered support in a huge way, and many customers are switching over now for the financial buffer.
Some of the banks to offer payroll advances, and zero to low interest loans include: USAA, Navy federal , Pacific Marine Credit Union, Marine Federal Credit Union, Service Credit Union, Belvoir Credit Union, Air Force Credit Union, First Command, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union.
"Sure we have an emergency savings plan, but it's for car repairs, emergency airline tickets, etc.," said Capt. Charles Herrera. "I did not expect to dip into that money, which doesn't come close to my paycheck amount."
Financial professionals recommend taking a close look at your monthly budget for October to see what expenses can be trimmed - like eating out, entertainment, additional gas station fill ups.
Not only military bases, but federal agencies and organizations will be affected as well. Could you imagine all the museums and the National Zoo in D.C. having their doors closed - it seems surreal to think about.
Here is a list of government agencies that could be affected according to a CNN news report.
Do you think the shutdown will really happen?
