The City of Fayetteville is hiring a Transit Supervisor.
The full-time position is salary, $33,916 annually.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing mass transit services within the Transit Department.
- Prepare, schedule and assign daily work duties and routes; prepare block sheets, run boards, status reports and call lists.
- Participate in the evaluation of mass transit staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Operate a two-way radio in support of dispatching duties; ensure routes are serviced in a timely fashion and on schedule; assist bus operators during breakdowns including securing replacement equipment and staff; coordinate major equipment and vehicle repairs with Fleet Maintenance staff.
- Maintain employee time sheets, vehicle allocation and run assignments.
- Act as receptionist; answer and screen telephone calls; answer questions and provide information to the general public; respond to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Collect, count and report transit revenues; maintain revenue records; prepare deposit slip; deliver deposit slip and revenue to bank or appropriate department.
- Assign vehicles; issue and collect transit uniforms; maintain accurate inventory; order new uniforms as necessary.
- Investigate mass transit related accidents; prepare and submit accident reports.
- Other important duties and responsibilities
- Provide staff support to the Transit Department including serving as backup for Bus Operators.
- May respond to emergency situations on an on-call basis.
- May perform a variety of clerical duties including selling snacks and drinks.
- May conduct transit driver training.
- Drive and maintain a transit route and schedule; transport passengers along route; assist passengers in loading and unloading as needed; operate specialized loading and unloading equipment to assist wheelchair passengers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Two years of increasingly responsible mass or public transit operation or administrative experience.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, within 60 days, a valid, North Carolina Class B CDL with airbrake, and passenger endorsements.
From the time of closing the hiring process is anticipated to last 2-3 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview and tests which will include spelling test, proofreading test and sentence clarity test with the successful candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
